A $500,000 grant to the Central Victorian Goldfields World Heritage Masterplan that will support the development of a bid for the region to bid for a World Heritage Listing.
The State Government grant for the Masterplan will fund the planning, PR and marketing required to build a business case for this site to become a World Heritage List. The expected benefits of the Victorian Goldfields becoming a World Heritage site, is an additional $435 million into the regional economy and it’s expected to create an extra 1,750 jobs in tourism.
Covering an area of about 40,000 square kilometres north-west of Melbourne, the 13 local
government areas including Loddon Shire making up the Central Victorian Goldfields are seeking a World Heritage Listing to celebrate this iconic region’s history and heritage.
