Harcourt fire not suspicious, say police

GOLDFIELDS Crime Investigation Unit detectives have determined the Ravenswood South bushfire as non-suspicious, police said this morning.

The fire destroyed dozens of homes at Harcourt on January 9.

Police said: “After the area was deemed safe, an extensive investigation into the cause of the fire commenced.

"Multiple people were spoken to by police as part of the investigation however there were no arrests.

"Detectives, with the assistance of an arson chemist and CFA fire investigator, determined that the fire was not suspicious.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.”
