Loddon police are also investigating the theft of a gun safe at Mologa.

Serpoentinbe's Leading Senior Constable Grant Polglase said the safe had been ripped from the wall of a locked shed.

He said chemicals worth more than $20,000 and a computer were not taken. “There have been 20 firearm thefts reported across the police western region in the past 14 days, most from rural properties,” Senior Constable Polglase said.

Under new laws introduced in Victoria last month, firearms must be stored in a purpose-built steel storage receptacle.
