INGLEWOOD Community Sports Centre has received a major equipment upgrade, with a new Kubota utility mower now officially in operation after a grant from Loddon Shire Council.

The replacement comes after about 10 years of service from the centre’s previous machine, which had become increasingly due for renewal.

Centre committee representative Tim Birthisel said the new mower would play an important role in maintaining the grounds and supporting volunteers into the future.

“It’s been about 10 years since the old machine has been in use and we applied for a grant through the Loddon Shire and successfully got that approved,” Mr Birthisel said.

“We had to get two quotes, but we really wanted a like-for-like replacement because we know the reliability and longevity of the Kubota.”

Mr Birthisel said while another petrol-powered option was considered, the committee believed the Kubota was the best long-term choice for the sports centre.

“Reliability is a big thing for us and we wanted something that would continue to do the job well for many years.”

The new mower is already being used around the sports centre grounds and is expected to help volunteers maintain the facility for many years to come.
