Kane hit 71 off the stick, nine strokes better than his nearest rival Damian Lanyon.
However, when handicaps were taken into account, Kane’s -3 saw him end up with a nett 74, one shot behind both Tim and Damian Lanyon. Tim finished first in the A Grade event thanks to his handicap of eight, compared with Damian’s seven.
B Grade was won by Nathan Wright, with a nett 72 ahead of Joe Kane’s 76.
Andrew Kane is running away with the A Grade club championship after three rounds, leading Stuart Tweddle by 21 shots and Damian Lanyon by 22. Peter Eicher is 10 shots ahead of Hamish Lanyon in the B Grade race.
Damian Lanyon leads the Weaver Cup standings by six shots over Wright and nine over Andrew Kane.
WEDDERBURN
The highlight of the third round of Wedderburn’s championships was an eagle on the third hole by Cameron Taylor.
Taylor hit 81 off the stick for a nett score of 72, but the A Grade winner on the day was Graham Nesbit ahead of Byron Bird. B Grade was taken out by Keith Lewis, with Jon Chandler runner up.
INGLEWOOD
Sunday golf saw a small group of golfers braving the chilly and damp conditions for a stroke round.
The course had held up beautifully after a wet week, with minimal casual water in play. The front nine saw players adjusting to the softer conditions with some inconsistent scoring, but the back nine was a whole different story for club legend David Vanston, who unleashed a vintage performance with two over par for the nine holes.
He finished well ahead of the pack with an 82 off the stick for a nett 70 and even par on the day.
