DAMIEN Lanyon won a tight stableford event at Boort Golf Club last Sunday, with his 41 points just shading Chris Hatcher’s 40.
Lanyon was playing off a handicap of 8 and Hatcher off 27.
Club champion Andrew Kane, playing off -3, finished third on 33 points, just ahead of Nathan Wright, on a 25 handicap. Hamish Lanyon finished on 31 points, with Stuart Tweddle on 30, Peter Eicher on 26, Grant Tooth 24 and Roslyn Wright 22.
Nearest the pins prizes went to Tweddle on the first hole, Damien Lanyon on the eighth, Tooth on the ninth, Kane on the 15th and Dot Beattie on the 18th.
TARNAGULLA
A thick Tarna fog enveloped the course very early, but by 9am it began to clear, and by tee-off at 9.30am we were bathed in glorious sunshine. That’s a Tarnagulla day.
The course was velveted in lush green grass, and all the wildlife was about – kangaroos, birds and lovely canine pets which accompanied their golfing owners for a good walk and sniffs around the course.
The women’s prize went to Jill Sharp, with Robyn Ravenhall runner-up.
In the men’s competition, the winner was Garry Harwood ahead of Leo McCartin.
Harwood also took out the longest drive, with Dave Shay winning the nearest the pin contest.
Tarnagulla’s next event is the Ambrose Pairs on Saturday July 11,
The Ambrose Pairs event is very forgiving as golfers play each ball where the best ball from each duo landed.
WEDDERBURN
Cam Taylor took out the Wedderburn A Grade club championship in a closely fought competition.
Playing off a handicap of 9, he hit 79 off the stick for a nett round of 70.
Cameron Taylor, Graham Nesbit and Tim Lockhart were next best.
Keith Lewis won the B Grade title with a nett 70 ahead of Jon Chadler (72).
