PROLONGED community agitation to improve safety at Little Lake Boort has won with Goulburn Murray Water agreeing to works on Number 3 channel adjoining the caravan park.

PROLONGED community agitation to improve safety at Little Lake Boort has won with Goulburn Murray Water agreeing to works on Number 3 channel adjoining the caravan park.
Members of Boort Tourism and Development have been pushing for action, citing fears the existing safety fence dangling over the channel could put lives at risk.
They first raised concerns more than three years ago.
GMW inspected the site this month and general manager water delivery services Warren Blyth said on Tuesday: “GMW is planning to complete works on a 600-800 metre section of the Boort Number 3 Channel during the 2026 winter works period.
“Design work on the proposed project still needs to be undertaken but the planned works include bank remodelling from Yot’s bridge to Durham Ox Road bridge.
“Planned works under the proposed project also include building up the left-hand bank.”
