Gibson claims crown at Hill
STEVE Gibson is the 2026 club champion after finishing with a total score of 233, ahead of runner up James Ritchie on 241.

In B Grade, Caleb Smith claimed the title with a total of 262, three shots ahead of Jed Stewart.
The A Grade Handicap was won by James Ritchie with a score of 226, while John Kennedy took out the B Grade Handicap with 220.
Steve Gibson also claimed the Les McRae Old Cobbers Trophy with an impressive nett score of 137.
The club’s Carmody Shield in coming up on July 26, followed by its annual tournament from August 7-9.
WEDDERBURN
Peter Sanderson has taken out Wedderburn’s club championship, with Keith Bird claiming the B Grade title.
Sanderson’s total of 214, playing off a handicap of five, was good enough to beat last year’s champion Byron Bird by two strokes in a tight result.
Lewis finished two strokes ahead of Keith Lewis.
The final round of the championships saw Sanderson hitting a nett 69, two shots ahead of Bird.
In the women’s championships, A Grade was on by Glenda Bird 88-91-86 (265 Nett) 229, from Susie Lockhart 91-95-91 (277 Nett) 232 and Jill Millie 101-94-99 (294 Nett) 240.
Shirley Postle 95-100-105 (300 Nett) 237 won B Grade from Carolyn McHugh 94-108-105 (307 Nett) 252, Elizabeth Canfield 104-106- 108 (318 Nett) 249 and Wendy Smith 110-118-103 (331 Nett) 232.
Aggregate nett winner was Glenda Bird 229.
BOORT
ANDREW Kane has taken out his 18th Boort golf club championship to add another title to his extraordinary career.
He won the A Grade title from Stuart Tweddle and Damien Lanyon, who tied for second place.
B Grade was a thriller, with Hamish Lanyon and Mark Perryman finishing in a tie, with an 18-hole playoff to be held on Sunday week.
The Lanyons were triumphant in the Weaver Cup title, with Damien winning ahead of runner up Hamish.
Last Sunday’s stroke event saw Hamish Lanyon finish with a stunning nett 60 off a handicap of 18.
Alby Bear’s 100 became 62 after his handicap was included, good enough for second place.
Kane finished seventh on the day, with 75 off the stick and 78 nett in a tight run competition. Only eight shots separated third from eighth.
INGLEWOOD
Wednesday saw the return of the newly engraved trophy for the Ladies Division 2 District champions.
Two years running is quite an achievement, and the club is very proud indeed.
Sunday golf again saw a small group, one player a regular visitor all the way from Berriwillock an hour and a half away. A great course with friendly and welcoming members will do that.
Results in the stableford round again saw David Vanston (12) off to a slow start and again blitzing the inward nine holes in one-over par off the stick to finish on 35 points.
He was closely followed by Ron Thouliss (10) on 33 points.
Club President Lindsay Kelly (18) put on a driving clinic most of the day finding fairways at will.
