VETERAN Loddon Shire councillor Gavan Holt has been elected mayor.
It will be his seventh term as mayor in a 20-year local government career.
Cr Holt defeated Cr Wendy Murphy in a vote for the position at Tuesday's special meeting of council.
“It is a great honour to be elected Mayor, a role I have been fortunate to hold previously during my time as a Loddon Shire councillor," Cr Holt said.
“I thank my fellow Councillors for their support in electing me to the role, and I look forwardto working with councillors, staff and the community during the coming year.
“I’d also like to thank Cr Dan Straub for his time as Mayor for the past two years.Cr Straub saw us through a difficult time in our Shire during the 2023 October floods and
subsequent recovery."
