Gala cup heads north again
NORTH Central Netball Association emerged as the standout performer at the 2026 AFL Central Victoria Gala Day on Sunday to again claim the cup with a strong showing across the netball grades.

In the 13 & Under competition, North Central opened with an 11-10 win over Maryborough Castlemaine before suffering defeats to Loddon Valley and Heathcote.
Heathcote finished unbeaten in the grade while LVFNL recorded victories over North Central and Maryborough Castlemaine.
The 15 & Under division belonged to North Central which defeated Heathcote 41-18 and Loddon Valley 38-26 to finish undefeated. Loddon Valley had a 35-27 win over Heathcote,
North Central again proved dominant in the 17 & Under section, defeating Loddon Valley 21-16, Maryborough Castlemaine 29-17 and Heathcote 29-16. Heathcote and Loddon Valley played out a 21-all draw, while Maryborough Castlemaine recorded a 23-13 victory over Loddon Valley.
In the Under 18 football, Heathcote was too strong for Loddon nValley, recording a convincing 10.18 (78) to 1.3 (9) victory.
Most Valuable Players were Ayla Nihill (HDFNL), Reese Pascoe (LVFNL), Cobi Kaye (MCDFNL) and Awhina Kahukura (NCNA) in the 13 & Under netball; Audey Mcfadzean (HDFNL), Darcie Coghill (LVFNL) and Indiana Gooding (NCNA) in the 15 & Under division; Rhylie Jones (HDFNL), Ruby Cullen (LVFNL), Chloe Cassidy (MCDFNL) and Milla Adams (NCNA) in the 17 & Under competition. Football MVP: Ari Morrisey (HDFNL) and Tyson Taylor (LVFNL).
