Fundraising down to a ‘T’
THE appeal originals were back on the road on Friday.

THE appeal originals were back on the road on Friday.
Donald Fire Brigade had its restored 1926 T Model Ford in tow for Calder Highway stops in Bridgewater and Gisborne.
It was the first time the truck had headed south with firies rattling tins since 2018.
In Bridgewater, the crew led by captain Dale Anderson linked with local brigade volunteers collecting donations at the caravan park and from residents and tourists in Main Street.
The journey marked 75 years of CFA brigades backing the appeal. Donald was in the original group of brigades to step up and saw the Donald crew recreate a journey that was legendary on Good Fridays in the 1950s and 1960s.
Mr Anderson joined appeal festivities in the phone room on Friday night to mark the occasion and helped present the CFA cheque for more than $2.5 million.
“We had such a terrific day engaging with the community, they were incredibly generous along the way, and many had to look twice at us on the road!” Dale said. “We stopped by the old Herald Sun building to recreate a historical photograph from over 70 years ago.”
Golden year for young Hill collectors
EAGER Pyramid Hill College students collecting on Good Friday for the appeal have earned a place in history.
Principal Fiona Moon and the students were part of the team marking the town’s 50th year supporting the appeal.
Pyramid Hill was one of 19 country communities recognised by appeal organisers for notching up half a century of involvement.
Students met at the Victoria Hotel on Friday morning where publican Paul Carter assisted with organisation for street collections.
Friday’s collection of $2764 brought the town’s total to $90,620.93 over 50 years.
