FOREST Fire Management Victoria and CFA volunteers have controlled at least four reported fires near Rheola tonight

The first fire on O'Briens Dam Road was reported soon after 7pm. At least eight units were called to the fires

Advice just issued by FFMV says the road remains closed.

It says:

This Community Information message is being issued for Cochranes Creek, Mcintyre, Rheola, Wehla. 

  • There are bushfires at O'Briens Dam Road, Rheola that are under control.

  • The following road is closed: O'Briens Dam Road, Rheola.

  • Smoke may be visible from nearby communities and roads. 

There is no immediate threat to the community and no action is required.

The advice comes ahead of a total fire ban declared for Monday 5 January for the northern country, which includes all Loddon Shire communities.

A heatwave wearning has also been issued for this week with with a forecast for Tuesday of a temperature in the high 30s followed by three days in the 40s.
