Pools at Inglewood, Wedderburn, Boort and Mitiamo were well patronised on opening day with a renewed partnership between Inglewood and District Community bank and Loddon Shire offering half-price season tickets expected to again drive pool patronage.

The deal covers three of the shire’s five pools with council looking at similar arrangements for Boort and Pyramid Hill.

Council crews were last week rushing to fix a leak at the Pyramid Hill pool that saw its season opening delayed.

Loddon Shire said last Thursday: “All going well, the senior pool at Pyramid Hill will re-open ... on November 22, though the junior pools might be closed for a little bit longer. We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the issue.”

Council has an external manager of its five pools but is responsible for maintenance.

Councillors have raised concerns about the long-term future of swimming pools in the Loddon Shire.

They are more than 60 years old and pools at Mitiamo and Pyramid Hill have been plagued with equipment breakdowns over the past four years.
