Flying under the radar: study puts lake spot on secret list
BOORT has topped the list of Victoria’s hidden gems in an insurance company analysis of the best places to visit.

With an average of just 2055 online searches month, ROLLin says Boort remains a “largely off-the-radar destination, ideal for travellers looking to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and experience authentic Victorian country charm without the crowds”.
The survey released on Tuesday says Boort is the state’s top hidden destination for travellers, relatively undiscovered status despite its growing popularity.
With 675 Instagram posts, 9 YouTube videos, and 122 TikToks, the town had a social media hiddenness score of 88.9 out of 100.
“Boort remains a largely off-the-radar destination, ideal for travellers looking to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and experience authentic Victorian country charm without the crowds,” ROLLin said.
Also making the list in Victoria were Port Albert and Cape Conran on the eastern Victoria coast and Taggerty in the Yarra Ranges. On the national list, Boort came in at number eight and the only top 10 town in Victoria.
The Queensland town of Tarzali in the Tablelands Region in Queensland took top spot. Tarzali had a population of 431 people and described as a charming and tranquil rural town where visitors have a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
