THE keys to Inglewood Fire Brigade’s heavy tanker were formally handed over during an impromptu ceremony on Sunday.
Brigade members received the new unit, one of 48 heavy tankers and two light tankers part of the State Government’s $126 million CFA Capability Funding package, in May 2022.
Ripon MP Martha Haylett organised on Sunday morning for the ceremony during her visit to the town’s Inglewood Alive Festival where brigade members were part of event activities.
The heavy tanker features a multi-layered crew protection system, ensuring the vehicle can withstand fire temperatures of more than 600 degrees Celsius, helping to keep firefighters safe. Other features include electronic monitors, electric rewind hose reels and higher levels of emissions controls.
“Our firefighters put their lives on the line every day for our safety and we are continuing to provide the resources and support they need to look after their safety while they protect our community,” Ms Haylett said.
