SERVICE and sacrifice were alive today, Shrine of Remembrance chief executive officer Dean Lee said at the opening of the Changed Forever exhibition in Pyramid Hill on Friday night.
Mr Lee joined more than 100 people for opening night, where he praised the community for its connection and assistance in hosting the touring exhibition.
He said the shrine created touring exhibitions to share the stories of service.
“The shrine is not a Melbourne memorial, it is your memorial and we remember that,” he said.
“And service and sacrifice are not dead and buried but alive today.”
Mr Lee said the Pyramid Hill community had given much to the service of Australia in World Wars One and Two and later conflicts.
“Those who served in World War One and Two number more than half the present day population of Pyramid Hill. And veterans of modern war also live among you.”
