Environmental assessment ordered on turbine plan
PROPOSALS for a 164-turbine wind farm at Meering West will need Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act approval.

The federal Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water last Thursday ordered assessments on listed threatened species and communities and listed migratory species.
Details of the assessment process are still to be released.
Meering West Wind Farm Pty Ltd wants to build and operate a wind farm of up to 164 wind turbines and a battery energy storage system, and associated ancillary.
The company has provided an initial briefing to Loddon Shire and become a sponsor of three sporting clubs in Boort.
It says Meering West will be one of Australia’s largest clean energy projects with 1.5GW of capacity and 1000MWh of energy storage
Meanwhile, European Energy is expected to resume community engagement in the Pyramid Hill district next month for its proposed wind farm at Mincha.
Further information sessions are also expected for Potentia’s proposed solar farm at Mologa.
The Loddon Herald understands several companies want to give Loddon Shire councillors updated briefings on their plans.
