Early victories still needed to impress
The Oracle looks at this weekend's Loddon Valley football clashes

CRACKING opening round of Loddon Valley football ... still a few weeks so see how the real fortunes pan out.
That means this Saturday’s round could be vital for a couple of clubs.
Promised the crew at Inglewood that I would not tip them against Marong this weekend.
The Woodies let one slip last Saturday, and although it’s a tough early draw just like last year, some early wins would be useful.
Expect endeavour to be up this Saturday but Marong will come out on top in a close encounter.
Newbridge and Maiden Gully were both touted as potential big improvers. That wasn’t the picture on the scoreboard last weekend.
So the two clash at Riverside Oval this week and for the loser, it will be pretty hard to push for a spot in the final five come August. I reckon the Holland boys will be rubbing the hands, and keeping warm, by 5pm.
The Mac and Cheese Tigers host their first Loddon Valley home and away game. Mitiamo has the trip across the Mincha Plains and after will be outprowled by the Tigers.
Calivil may have beaten the wind up at Miti in the opening round but it will be a different story against Bears Lagoon Serpentine at Janiember Park. Is Serp a better side than last year, not sure, but still better than the rising Demons.
And finally up to the kennel where Pyramid Hill has Bridgewater. I’d be silly not to pick the Mean Machine to get the chocolates.
