PYRAMID Hill has dropped out of the top five in A Grade netball after a dramatic one-goal loss to Marong last Saturday.

The Bulldogs, grand finalists in the past two seasons, are in danger of missing the finals, although they have matches against three of the bottom four teams to come.

Marong’s win kept the Panthers ahead of Inglewood in fourth place, just two points behind Bridgewater and Newbridge in a battle for the double chance in the finals.

Marong got out of the blocks and established a five-goal lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Bulldogs fought back to level the score at half-time.

It was a tie at the last change as well, with the Panthers ahead at the right time when the siren sounded.

Conditions were tough, with a strong wind favouring one end of the court and a slippery surface after earlier heavy rain.

In an incredibly tight season, where the smallest margins can have a massive impact, the narrow victory has Marong well placed for a finals berth.

Pyramid Hill, now a game and a half behind the Panthers and the Woodies, can’t afford any slip ups in the last five rounds.

The Bulldogs still have to face unbeaten Mitiamo and third-placed Newbridge, along with Calivil, Bears Lagoon Serpentine and Macorna.
