BOORT is in danger of slipping out of the top four in North Central A Grade netball after its loss to Wedderburn in the Loddon Derby.

The unbeaten Redbacks controlled the contest from the first whistle and took the game away from the Magpies with a 19-6 second quarter.

There was no coming back from the 19-goal half-time deficit, leaving Boort with a 5-6 record for the season.

Donald, with a game in hand, is just two points behind the Magpies with four rounds remaining.

Boort was scheduled to play St Arnaud this Saturday but will have a week off with the Saints having withdrawn from A Grade this year.

Donald meets Calder United, second last on the ladder, and a win will see the Royal Blues leapfrog Boort into the top four. The round 15 clash between Donald and Boort will likely decide the last spot in the finals, although Sea Lake Nandaly (third) is only a game and percentage ahead of the Royals.

Boort coach Carly Isaac said before the season began that a place in the four was her aim, so there is great incentive for her team to hang on.

Wedderburn looks unbeatable again in A Grade, with Meg Lowry’s settled and talented lineup carrying everything before them. Best against Boort were Alice Hubbard, playing in goal defence, Holly Lockhart (goal attack) and Olivia Lockhart (wing defence).

Even if the team were to suffer injuries, there is such depth in senior ranks at the club, with B Grade on top of the ladder.
