PYRAMID Hill airstrip was busier on Saturday than Tullamarine during the height of the pandemic.
Six light planes and a helicopter landed on the dirt strip late afternoon bringing aviation enthusiasts to town for a weekend away.
The aircraft had flown from Wahring, near Shepparton, an hour earlier in the latest trip by Goulburn Valley Aero Club members to experience country towns.
One of the pilots, Tom Byrne, said Pyramid Hill was chosen as a destination because it “has an airstrip and a pub”.
“Anywhere with the pub and the strip and it can be a destination for us,” he said.
