THREE Loddon communities once touted as being in Victoria’s golden triangle will be part of a new tourism project.
Inglewood, Tarnagulla and Wedderburn have been included in the State Government’s Goldfields Gateway project.
But details of the $625,000 project across six sites in central Victoria from the Macedon Ranges to Ballarat and Bendigo are still to come.
Loddon Shire’s manager tourism and economic development David Stretch said: “The Goldfields Gateways project will explore new technologies in the development of digital servicing, signage and messaging to support the visitor experience across three Victorian tourism regions - Tourism Midwest Victoria, Daylesford Macedon Tourism and Bendigo Regional Tourism.
“The project is being positioned as an opportunity to test and learn technologies and applications that will support the visitor experience, and the UNESCO Victorian Goldfields World Heritage application,” he said.
“Council’s tourism and economic development team looks forward to working with township tourism and development committees in Inglewood, Wedderburn and Tarnagulla to share project details and timelines as they are received from the project working group.”
Loddon is part of the World Heritage bid that was recently expanded to include Beechworth and Walhalla in Gippsland.
