NATHAN Dennis’ rink has secured Christmas break bragging rights for arch rival Calivil after their seven-shot win over Dingee in Bendigo bowling playing Division 4 on Saturday
In the first encounter of the season for the “Battle of the Blowflies”, Dennis took his quartet to a thumping 26-shot win.
Graham Maxted’s rink had a tighter battle against Dingee’s Fyfe Grieves, edging ahead by five shots while Dingee more than pushed its credentials with Leo Demeo’s rink winning by 15 and Keith Murphy getting his foursome up by nine.
The win puts Calivil on top of the ladder while Dingee slips to third.
INGLEWOOD
The premier league side on Saturday put in its best performance so far this season against Kangaroo Flat, going down by just eight shots.
Best performed rink was Robert Stranger, John McClymont, Bruce McClymont and Geoff Wilson with a 13-shot win.
Division 6 team continue to amaze with another good win, securing a 13-shot victory against Kangaroo Flat.
Best rink this week again were Simon Laird, Jack Palfreyman, Bev Taig and Helen Leach with a 13-shot win.
In Monday pennant last week, the Division 5 team came back to earth with a disappointing loss at home against Campbells Creek going down by seven shots. Still in third place on the ladder and heaps to look forward to.
Best preformed rink this week were Edna Patterson, Phyliss McEwan, Patsy Lyndon and David Whitehead with a seven-shot win.
Final Scores were Inglewood 33 shots (2pts) defeated by Campbells Creek 40 shots (12pts).
Just when the Division 1 team looked like they were going along nicely they crashed at Bendigo East to lose by five shots. They hold onto third place on the ladder and have the Christmas break to regroup for five tough games coming up.
Best performed rink was Merilyn Chamberlain, Bev Taig, Andrew Caserta and Ian Chamberlain with a four-shot win.
BRIDGEWATER
Division 5 travelled to Kangaroo Flat to play the top side on the synthetic greens in windy conditions. The home side proving too strong on the day with Curtis Mangan Rink our only winning rink by nine shots with Bob Smith’s rink going down narrowly on the last end.
Division 7 played against Strathfieldsaye Maroon away in very blustery conditions on very quick greens. Both rinks went down in tight contest with lead changes through out the day.
It was great to see the improvement in new bowlers George Marbon and Lachlan Catto.
