YOUNG Serpentine cricket Allira James has been named the Loddon Herald Sports Star of the Year monthly winner for December.
Allira was named in the top bowlers and bats at last month’s Victoria Country Cup tournament in Albury.
A right-arm fast bowler, Allira finished with 3/15 in the tournament’s second game playing for the Northern Rivers representative side.
Allira joins Inglewood woodchopper John Coffey junior and Pyramid Hill motorcross champion Judd Chislett as the first three monthly winners in the new award recognising sporting achievements of Loddon residents.
Monthly winners are in the running for the annual Sports Star of the Year award to be named at a dinner in October. One of the Loddon’s greatest sporting exports, champion rally co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino is the award’s official ambassador.
Nominations are taken from articles featured in the Loddon Herald.
