More than 400 people were taken through the new milking barn at the Clymo family’s Calmo Farms, Calivil, were a 120-animal unit T8900 rotary milking unit has been installed.
GEA Farm Technologies said the level of interest was exceptional “with great questions, practical discussion and strong engagement around the system, future performance and planning.
“A clear sign of the appetite for innovative, high-capacity milking solutions chosen by pioneering farmers,” the company said. GEA said the unit was designed for medium to large farms looking to improve efficiency, workflow and cow comfort.
Jade and Belinda Clymo, fourth-generation dairy farmers, guided district farmers and visitors from across the state through the new dairy parlour that soon will go into production.
In recent years, Calmo Farms has been milking 1850 dairy cows in a 50-stand rotary dairy.
The dairy industry is traditionally one of the largest water users within the Goulburn Murray Irrigation District. Water at Calmo Farms is recycled and re-used on the property.
