HUNDREDS of people have turned out in their local towns for Australia Day ceremonies and celebrations across the Loddon.

Local organisers have said the crowds were at least at similar levels to previous years.

One of the largest events was in Boort where the local agricultural and pastoral society had a day of activities in Nolen's Park after the official ceremony.

That event was popular with local residents and the visitors at the town's caravan park for the Australia Day weekend.
