Crossing construction out to tender ‘within weeks’
DEPARTMENT of Transport and Planning will call tenders to construct Wedderburn’s High Street pedestrian crossing.

A spokesperson said design for the crossing had been completed and tenders would be “called in coming weeks”.
“Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2026 and will provide safer links for pedestrians to access education, recreation, and shopping precincts,” the spokesperson said.
Money for pedestrian crossing lights was anounced in the State Budget in 2024.
The Government commitment came amid community campaigns in Inglewood and Wedderburn to improve safety for drivers and pedestrians in their main streets, part of the Calder Highway.
Both towns had 40kmh speed zones introduced in late 2024 and Inglewood now has Smiling Sam flashing lights telling motorists their speed.
