Council will oppose activist's duck ban bid
LODDON Shire will oppose a bid by First People’s Assembly member and Aboriginal activist Gary Murray to have a federal ban slappped on duck hunting at Lake Boort.

Councillors on Tuesday voted to make a submission before the February 8 deadline.
Cr David Weaver, a landowner adjoining the lake, left the chamber for debate and the vote.
Cr Nick Angelo said any ban would be unAustralian. Mayor Dan Straub said claims duck shooters had damaged scar trees at the lake were unjustified.
Sources say the State Government is aware of what it describes as applications “for emergency and ongoing declarations under the Commonwealth Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984.
Consultation on Mr Murray’s bid were advised in a Commonwealth Gazette notice published last week.
