BOORT’S community shed used by organisations to store equipment has been upgraded with a concrete floor.
The works were funded by a Loddon Shire Council grant and assistance from the town’s development committee.
The shed had previously had a dirt floor.
At the committee’s annual meeting, Sophia Herrington was re-elected chairperson with Jacqui Verley as vice-chairperson, secretary Wendy James and treasurer Barry Kennedy.
The committee is continuing talks with Goulburn Murray Water to have the channel beside the caravan park piped.
Safety along the section of channel was first raised with Goulburn Murray Water last year.
Other current projects of the committee including erecting a bird hide at Myrnong Beach, updating the Boort Community Plan, developing a “pump track” between Nolens Park and the tennis courts, safety in Godfrey Street where the road surface has been raised by maintenance over the past decade that prevents passenger access to vehicles.
Residents earlier this year gathered signatures on a petition highlighting pedestrian safety issues with differences in the gutter on the north side of Godfrey Street as it is deep and dangerous.
Sophie said the committee would like to see more younger members join the group “bringing new visions for Boort and the surrounding districts”.
