WEDDERBURN Community Centre would be given an extra $50,000 on top of increased funding announced in September if the Labor government is re-elected.
Labor’s Ripon candidate Martha Haylett met centre staff and volunteers on Monday to make the announcement.
“By continuing to invest in what matters, we will secure the future of this important community organisation,” she said.
“That’ll mean more locals will be better supported by the hardworking volunteers and staff, helping to deliver community-based services for Wedderburn.
“We’ll make sure they are well equipped to help local families and members of the community, ensuring every Victorian gets the help and support they need, when they need it – and closer to home.”
The election commitment follows the Government in September committing $19 million in additional funding over three years and permanent ongoing annual funding of $6.6 million for Victoria’s network of 400 neighbourhood houses.
Ms Haylett said the additional funds would help Wedderburn “to develop and fund programs that they wish to run.”
