COMMEMORATIVE services across the Loddon for Remembrance Day were well attended.
June Andrew was guest speaker at the Calivil commemoration where she spoke on the life of her father, the district’s last surviving World War Two veteran Darby Illingworth.
East Loddon Historical Society prepared the program for Calivil that included pipers Glen Ray and grandson Hayden playing during the laying of wreaths.
At Boort, the Last Post was again sounded by Allan Streader, 98, with the Boort Babblers leading singing.
Vietnam War veteran Mal Gilmour was joined at the Inglewood memorial by ship mates John Keenan and Ray Neilson. The three had served on HMAS Vendetta 54 years ago.
The local RSL sub-branch organised services in Inglewood and Bridgewater.
Services were also well attended at Wedderburn and Mologa where more than 30 people were part of the Remembrance Day service ahead of a minute’s silence at 11am.
