Heathcote Football League has put a decision on hold for two weeks on whether to make Marong, Maiden Gully and Cohuna members of the league.
The meeting of Heathcote clubs last night opted to defer the call and proposals by AFL Central Victoria to either create a new league or a two-tier Bendigo competition have been blamed for for the decision.
Loddon Valley league clubs had been ready to vote on whether they would agree to Marong and Maiden Gully shifting to Heathcote - AFL rules give them just 24 hours to make a decision - but it is believed clubs were this afternoon told of Heathcote's wait approach to bids.
The Heathcote decision means uncertainty into the finals series for clubs about where they will play in season 2024.
Both Marong and Maiden Gully have been contacted to see whether AFL plans change their determination to switch leages
The Loddon Herald this week has early reaction to the AFL commission's proposals and will be discussed in Episode One of this Year's Editor and The Oracle Podcast being recorded live this Sunday at Inglewood's Empire Hotel at 3pm.
AFL Central Victoria has been asked to appear on the program to talk about its proposals.
