Charlton, St Arnaud and Marnoo clubs on Wednesday night met with association president Kane Arnold and secretary Claire Harrison in Wedderburn.

The three are currently members of the Wimmera Mallee Association where Marnoo won this year's premiership.

The three are strong chances to enter Upper Loddon and make an eight-team competition.

St Arnaud will meet on Monday night to canvas the move with parents with the Saints, members of Wimmera Mallee since switching from the Maryborough competition in 2012, keen to develop pathways for juniors through the Upper Loddon underage competition.

Charlton has been sounded out for a move south in recent years while Marnoo is believed to be considering several options for its future.
