Church centenary will be marked with special service
THE centenary of St Patrick’s Catholic Church Pyramid Hill will be celebrated next month.

The church’s foundation stone was laid on May 23 1926 by the Most Rev John McCarthy, Bishop of Sandhurst, and the minister the Reverend James Gremin.
Both the church and presbytery were opened in the same year during the town’s prosperous 1920s.
The opening came a year after the memorial hall was opened.
Catholics were among the first to have formal worship following the establishment of the town in 1874 after farm selections on the Mount Hope pastoral run became available.
The church opened a primary school in 1956. The school closed two years ago after declining enrolments.
The centenary Holy Eucharist will be on May 24 followed by a shared lunch in the former school.
