Wedderburn’s Christmas on High has had a revamp this year with a new location and new name.

The Community Christmas Celebrations this Friday, December 13, will take place at the Wedderburn Community House tomorrow evening, event organiser Louise Cook said, “It’s a new name and location but the focus on community spirit is still the same.”

With the help of the Loddon Shire Council’s Community Recovery Program and funding from the Victorian and Australia Government’s Hub Recovery Program, the community house is able to offer a night of free family entertainment with laser tag, jumping castle, magic show and more.

“We’re focusing on the importance of bringing together the community at Christmas,” Louise said. The funding from the government has gone to supplies and entertainment for the night, ensuring everyone is able to participate.

The local community is a big part of how the celebrations run, with a barbecue from the Lion’s Club, a potato van and Coffee to Di For attending to support the night. There is also a market operating with 12 local stall holders and the SES are attending with their trucks on show for everyone.

The Wedderburn Primary School students will be performing Christmas carols on the night and local singer Morgan Harrold will also be a part of the music ensemble.

Tying the whole night together is a visit from the man in the red suit, Santa will be making an appearance at the community house to chat to all the children.

The community house will also have their Christmas lights map available for a gold coin donation for attendees to enjoy the lights without the hard work of searching for them themselves.

While the name of the town celebrations has changed Louise assures that the community spirit behind the event is still the same and it continues to be a way for the community to gather together and celebrate.

Boort also have their annual Christmas Street party on tomorrow night, with Godfrey Street closed for the festivities.

The celebrated event will have market stalls, activities, late night shopping and a visit from Santa.
