Character shines to create buffer
BRIDGEWATER has held onto second place on the A Grade netball ladder with a nail-biting four-goal win over Marong.

BRIDGEWATER has held onto second place on the A Grade netball ladder with a nail-biting four-goal win over Marong.
The Panthers pushed the high-scoring Mean Machine throughout, leading at quarter-time.
However, 16 goals to 12 in the third quarter gave Bridgewater a buffer that they held onto until the end.
Bridgewater coach Lou Dupuy said her side relished the tough battle.
“It’s the kind of game we need to win to progress in the finals,” she said.
Bridgewater scored the first five goals of the game before Marong settled, and that early lead proved to be pivotal in the result.
Goal shooter Nat Flood was clinical for the winners, shooting in the high 90 per cent range as she made the most of her height and strength.
Her sister Dannielle played a selfless role at goal attack, making room for Nat when needed and scoring herself when the chance arose, while Jorja Lee’s one-on-one wins in mid-court were crucial.
Marong was gallant in defeat and held onto fourth on the ladder on percentage over Inglewood when the Blues went down to unbeaten Mitiamo.
Rising Star nominee Larni Taylor played strongly as goal attack for the Panthers and centre Charlie Coghill had a titanic battle with Phoebe Henderson.
Pyramid Hill made up four points in the race for fifth spot and now sits just half a game behind the Panthers and Woodies in sixth place.
