BREAKING NEWS: NEWBRIDGE Recreation Reserve will re-open to campers from this weekend.
The reserve has been closed since October when floods swamped the area.
This afternoon's announcement comes as finishing touches are put to the reserve function room ahead of Saturday's flood recovery football and netball round match between Newbridge and Bears Lagoon Serpentine.
The reserve committee told the Loddon Herald this afternoon:
"We will be opened from June 24. We will continue to be a construction site with ongoing fencing of the tennis courts and Rhinotank.
"Loddon Shire has issued us with new ‘red’ lidded rubbish bins and ‘yellow’ lidded recycle bins. We ask visitors, campers, spectators to separate their waste/recycling appropriately so we don’t contaminate recycling with waste products. We are waiting on appropriate labeling to assist users to put their refuse in the appropriate bin.
"Public amenities have been restored. Toilet roll holders and hand towel are being fitted tomorrow. Mirrors may be next week with hand soap around the same time. Hand over for the Pavilion will occur on Friday afternoon. Repair works will continue for some time as getting contractors and materials has been an issue. Campers will be reminded to stay clear of the Rhinotank and tennis court until they are fenced."
