DINGEE Bush Nursing Centre records are being digitised ready for publication of a book for the centre’s centenary next year.

Board president Geoff Thomas told Sunday’s annual general meeting the book’s release would be part of centenary celebrations.

Mr Thomas said the centre was working with East Loddon Historical Society on the project.

“Preparations are well in hand and a number of former local identities have already been interviewed, so the book should make a very interesting and amusing read,” he said.

“It would be remiss of me not to mention the hard work of Andrea Boudville in co-ordinating and liaising with the historical society team.”

Mr Thomas said the centre remained in a robust financial position and continued to enjoy a high level of community support.

“What that in mind and with the help of our community engagement committee, we are currently looking at a number of projects to further expand the range of services available to our community,” Mr Thomas said.

“The spectre of COVID-19 has affected our society in so many ways, some of which are unexpected. Who would have thought that a shortage of skilled tradesmen would mean that it took a full 12 months to erect two fairly simple carports.”

Centre co-managers Kylie Smith and Heather Gale said home visits had increased during the year to ensure safety and welfare of the community.

“Training continued to be a significant focus for us in the past year with the continuation of monthly training with Ambulance Victoria,” they said.

Three new registered nurses - Noeleen Turner, Kristen Ferguson and Joanne Kane - have been engaged during the year.

“We have continued our partnerships with Inglewood and District Health Service, Bendigo Health, Echuca Regional Health and Rochester and Elmore District Health Service. These services assisted us with the provision of case reviews, Aboriginal liaison and referral systems for further health assessments and expertise,” the co-managers said.

“We are both very committed to DBNC and strive to deliver the highest quality of health care to this community.”
