A win last Saturday against St Arnaud, its nearest rival for fourth spot on the ladder, guaranteed it would play in the finals series.

Wedderburn won two of the three rinks for a 79-59 victory away at St Arnaud. The rink of Robert Tonkin, Leon Holt, Wedderburn, which started the season in brilliant form but then encountered a slump, is two wins and 20 points ahead of St Arnaud with only one round remaining.

Boort awaits on Saturday, with the Magpies in second-last spot on the table.

Wedderburn’s Division 2 side is second, seven points behind ladder leader Wycheproof.

The team had a thrilling two-shot win over St Arnaud courtesy of a 15-shot win by the rink of Robert Ashby, Tony Benaim, Judy Matthews and skip John Grant.

The Division 2 outfit can potentially overtake Wycheproof for top spot with a win over Boort.

However, Wyche is facing bottom side Donald in the last round and is unlikely to slip up ahead of finals.
