Bulldog hopes are hanging by a bare thread

PYRAMID Hill’s A Grade finals’ hopes hang by a thread after the Bulldogs lost a hard-fought battle with unbeaten Mitiamo.
The Superoos won 66-51, leaving Pyramid Hill in sixth place, a game and a half behind Marong and Inglewood with three rounds to play. The Blues are the more vulnerable, with a poorer percentage than the Panthers, but they play Maiden Gully (eighth) and Bears Lagoon Serpentine (ninth) in the next three weeks, games they would expect to win.
The Bulldogs, beaten grand finalists in the past two seasons, face the Bears and bottom side Macorna in the next two matches, with Newbridge in the final round.
They can only keep winning and hope that Inglewood falters twice – which is a tall order.
As was beating the unstoppable Mitiamo side, which grabbed an early lead and held firm as the Dogs matched them in the middle quarters before pulling away a little in the last term. The vastly experienced Superoos are so practised as a team that things can appear seamless.
They face a stern challenge this week against Bridgewater, which is second on the ladder and has been in red-hot form, but they are odd-on to go through the home and away season unbeaten. That would give them a week off at the start of the finals, something coach Jen Wilson will be wary of, having said in the past that the team was better when it played week on week.
