BROTHERS Tom and Harry McKinley have shaken up the Upper Loddon cricket season after their return to Bridgewater from playing in the Bendigo competition.

The pair have appeared for California Gully’s Division One side since the season began in October, but will play out the season with Bridgewater, dramatically improving the Bulls’ finals prospects.

Harry played a one-off match for Bridgewater when the Bendigo Association had a bye in round six, and smashed a century – the first in the Loddon Valley this season.

Tom returned last Saturday, along with Harry, and promptly thumped 87 from 46 balls as the Bulls overwhelmed Arnold in a T20 match.

The brothers are among the most damaging players in the association and bring outstanding fielding skills as well as powerful batting to the Bulls.

Harry was named the competition’s wicketkeeper of the year last season.

Bridgewater, like many clubs, has had to field junior players as availability fluctuates

The Bulls have a crucial T20 match against ladder leaders Boort Yando when the season resumes on January 10.

A win in that match would put them into the T20 final.

Two-day clashes follow against Kingower and Wedderburn Band before the last round one-day match against Arnold prior to the final series.

With the McKinleys in the lineup, Bridgewater shapes as a real wildcard.
