NEW Inglewood Bowling Club president Dave Smyth organised a successful social trip across the Murray to Barham on Saturday.

A group of 23 bowlers travelled by mini bus, departing Inglewood at 9.30am and arriving at the impressive Barham Sports and Entertainment Club around 11.15am. Following a light lunch, bowlers took to the greens for the day’s competition.

The host club assembled 78 players from across the region for two-bowl triples, with three games of nine ends played throughout the afternoon.

Inglewood was well represented among the successful teams, with Ian Chamberlain and Deano Wilson playing together in one unbeaten side, while Dave Smyth and Kathleen McNaught were members of separate teams that also won all three of their matches.

Ben Scoble also collected the special award for bowlers using a playing arm, marking an impressive first outing with the aid. The group returned safely to Inglewood by 6pm, with Dave Smyth, Ian Chamberlain and Wendy Wilson sharing the driving duties.

Social bowls continue each Sunday from 2pm at the Inglewood Bowling Club, while three practice matches have been scheduled for September.
