TRAVEL uncertainty last week ended Wedderburn motoryclist Zac Slide’s hopes of competing in the Finke Desert Race at Alice Springs over the weekend.

Zac had prepared for the event, billed as Australia’s ultimate desert race, but was initially forced to withdraw early last week when the Northern Territory had listed Victoria as a COVID red zone.

But when borders were opened for regional Victorians on Thursday, the Wedderburn College student was unable to have his entry reinstated with his original spot being taken by a wait-list competitor.

Zac had entered class five of the Finke for riders for four-stroke motorcycles between 251cc and 450cc.
