UPDATE MONDAY - NEW ROAD CLOSURE

Boort-Wedderburn Road (C273)

The Boort-Durham Ox road has been closed late this afternoon.

Road closures continue to be in place including the Calder Highway between Marong and Bendigo, Wimmera Highway between Marong and Newbridge and at Logan

A Department of Transport spokesperson said: “We are working as best we can in this emergency situation to make roads safe. We have crews tackling repairs across the state - but with more rain predicted it may take some time for the full extent of damage to be known and some roads to safely reopen.”

“We strongly urge people not to remove road signs, regardless of the apparent condition of the road.”

“We also remind people that it is everyone’s responsibility to drive safely and not drive through floodwater.”

“If anyone has any concerns about particular roads please phone Regional Roads Victoria on 133 778.”

Meanwhile, Emergency Management Victoria state control centre this afternoon said: "Since the beginning of this Heavy Rainfall weather event (Wednesday October 12), VICSES has received over 4750 requests for assistance (RFA), including more than 500 flood rescues."

Emergency Management Commissioner Andrew Crisp said: “It’s been a challenging week, with devastating impacts seen across the state. However, with Major Flooding still expected, it’s vital communities, especially in at risk locations listen to the advice of emergency services, and stay up to date with the VicEmergency App and website as they are issued.”

“Thank you to our dedicated emergency services who are continuing to work hard to respond to the widespread flooding across the state.”
