DAMIAN Lanyon was the star of Boort golf last Saturday, winning the stroke event and taking out two of the nearest the pin prizes.
Lanyon hit 74 off the stick for a nett 65, finishing one shot ahead of Kevin Linehan, whose handicap of 15 saw him hit a nett 66.
One stroke back was Andrew Kane, playing off -2, who went around in 65. Joe Kane was fourth, finishing on 69 off a handicap of 22.
Lanyon won the nearest the pin contest on the fifth and 18th holes, while Kane won the first and the eighth. Stuart Tweddle, who finished with a nett 74 in the stroke event, was nearest the pin on the fifth and 15th holes. Linehan won the prize on the ninth hole.
Inglewood
THE last week of May brought softer conditions with the course in beautiful condition.
The Wednesday ladies event saw Dorothy Silke continue a good run of form, finishing a single stroke ahead of the ever-consistent Dianne Wayman. Dorothy also showed skills around the scrapes with the fewest putts (12) over the nine holes as well.
Sunday golf saw a small group play in the stableford round that was headed by David Vanston on 33 points followed by Nathan Joyner on 31. Nathan was left to rue poor second shots and a lack of consistency in his short game after some long and straight drives.
