PLAINS Plains Landcare Network will stage a mini birding festival after a grant in round three of the State Government’s Volunteering Innovation Fund.
Bird Day Out early next year will be hosted at the network’s headquarters at the old Inglewood railway station goods shed and flanked by field birding trips: a walk up Mount Korong in the morning and an afternoon outing by foot, canoe or boat on Serpentine Creek.
The festival will also celebrate volunteers and through these activities, encourage new volunteers to step forward to help “sustain the quality of their extensive bird monitoring program on the Loddon Plains”.
Member for Western Victoria Region Jaala Pulford said: “Volunteers are vital in the conservation of our great outdoors. I thank them all and invite them, alongside new groups in our community, to apply for one of these funds.”
“I look forward to discovering what these exciting projects can offer our community. In the meantime, we should all explore and enjoy the wonderful green spaces in Loddon Shire,” Ms Pulford said.
