Big shed will make a new market home
A COUPLE of Wedderburn locals are teaming up to create a brand new twilight market and they are aiming for the inaugural event to take place on the Loddon Valley Arts festival weekend in October.
A COUPLE of Wedderburn locals are teaming up to create a brand new twilight market and they are aiming for the inaugural event to take place on the Loddon Valley Arts festival weekend in October.
The Makers and Growers Twilight Market is the combination of Tina Raewyn Carter and Wedderburn Hotel’s Craig Fuller.
Tina hosts an online group called Make it. Bake it. Sew it. Grow it. Thrift it. Gift it., an interactive site that has built a local following.
Made in Wedderburn will launch on October 2 and run across the weekend as part of the Arts trail program that criss-crosses the shire with exhibitions and events.
Based in the big shed behind Wedderburn Hotel, with access from both High Street and Wilson Street, the arts and crafts exhibition will extend into the Makers and Growers Twilight Market on the Friday evening.
The pair got together with Loddon Valley Arts festival co-ordinator, Rosemary Sorensen, to take advantage of the festival’s popular program, which is supported by Loddon Shire and Visit Loddon Valley Tourism.
“The festival was wonderfully well received last year and we are very keen to respond to home-grown local ideas for events to improve it even further,” Ms Sor-ensen said.
“I love the way Tina has created a network of makers in and around Wedderburn, so this is an excellent way to combine our resources for this year’s festival.
“The timing is perfect because Craig has done such an amazing job transforming the historic hotel into a welcoming venue for locals and visitors.”
Tina and Craig are keen to hear from artists and crafters alike who would like to exhibit their works for the three-day October event.
