CHARMAINE Soulsby has swapped Australian bushland around Rheola for a year in the foothills of the Czech Republic town of Ceský Krumlov.
The Year 10 student is among the first seven Rotary exchange students from District 9800 since COVID saw international borders locked down in 2020.
She left for Europe last month and has settled in with her host family in the town with a population of 13,000.
The historic centre of Ceský Krumlov is the castle dating from the 13th century and a UNESCO World Heritage Site with well-preserved Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque architecture.
Ceský Krumlov is about 20km southwest of Ceské Budjovice and 134km south of the capital Prague. It is situated on both banks of the Vltava River in the Bohemian Forest Foothills.
While in the Czech Republic, Charmaine, who played cricket for Kingower and attends Highview College Maryborough, will take part in a week-long ski camp. Her exchange is sponsored by Rotary Club of Bendigo.
