The platinum wedding anniversary saw family visit the coupole’s Wedderburn home and share a specially made chocolate cake.

Faye, 93 and Edwin, 95, said they were blessed to have been married seven decades and shared stories of their wedding day on March 31, 1956.

“It rained before the wedding,” said Edwin while Faye recalled the sun started shining as she arrived at the church in St Arnaud and stayed out while photographs were taken.

They settled in Wedderburn - Edwin from Kurraca, Faye from near St Arnaud.

Over the decades, Faye and Edwin have been actively involved in the Wedderburn community and are particularly well known in bowling circles where both have served the local club in leadership positions.

She was also active in rural affairs and served as a board member on the Victorian Catchment and Land Protection Council.

In 1996 Faye was the regional finalist in the ABC Rural Woman of the Year competition recognising contributions to country communities.

Edwin and Faye have three children, 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
