NEW York Times best-selling author of crime thrillers Ellie Marney will headline the biennial Boort District School Writers’ Festival.

The Australian-based author will join other award-winning writers Trace Balla, Jane Godwin and Michael Wagner at the festival in August.

Organiser Sharon Pickering this week confirmed the line-up for the festival that will also include comedians Damian Callinan, Josh Earl and Rusty Berther.

Marney is an internationally best-selling author of thrillers for adults and teens – her titles include the New York Times best-seller None Shall Sleep, the Kirkus-starred sequel Some Shall Break, and fan favourite series finale All Shall Mourn, as well as electrifying new thriller No One Is Safe, CBCA Notable standalone The Killing Code and the Every Breath series.

Sharon said the calibre of authors speaking at the festival was a coup for rural Victoria.

This year’s festival will also be extended with participation by Year7-10 students at Pyramid Hill College.

Sharon said organisers were also putting together plans for a comedy night as part of the festival’s 2026 program.
